"It impacted me for the rest of my life. I saw my friends killed. It was things to experience. The sights, smell, and horror."-Soldier Norm
The impact on Americans was tremendous, so tremendous it left the Americans speechless. When the soldiers got back to America they got were ignored and it was never talked about. It has been 45 years and the Americans are still touched. From a Veteran he stated that, “This war will affect him for the rest of his life.” Although he still wishes that the troops would be more recognized. Americans used to turn on their T.V’s and they would have to hear about the war dragging on day by day. They had to see the dismay intrusions between the 2 and so much more. It was hard to watch because the war was just appalling, disgusting, and horrifying. People had their loved ones fighting down there, they were either killed, wounded or just lucky to be alive. There are many memories for those who fought and for those who watched. Some couldn’t handle it and just had depression for so long it turned into PSD (Posttraumatic stress disorder) they didn’t know how to have a daily interaction with someone or they just didn’t know what to do with themselves. Americans felt on the verge of feeling like they were shut down for all eternity. So this is why nobody ever really wants or wanted to talk about it.
